Wedding ring lost in the sea at Lignano Sabbiadoro: found in shallow water
Mid-August, choppy sea, knee-deep water. One dive or one wet hand and the ring slips off: within seconds the sand swallows it. That is exactly what happened at Lignano Sabbiadoro.

What happened
The call came in the afternoon: wedding ring lost in the water in front of one of the beach clubs. The spot was approximate, as it almost always is. The sea was rough, which moves the sand and shifts light objects by a few metres.
How we searched
First, we fixed the spot using two landmarks on the beach and marked out a search rectangle in the water. Then a systematic sweep in parallel strips with an underwater metal detector and a sand scoop, working against the current so the searched area stays clear.
The find
The ring was about 15 cm under the sand, almost three metres away from the indicated spot, moved by the current. Clear signal, two scoops, and the ring was back on its owner's finger.
What to do if it happens to you
Do not dig with your hands or a rake: you push the item deeper. Mark the spot with an umbrella or a bottle, take a photo, and message us on WhatsApp right away. We cover the whole Lignano coastline, at dawn or after sunset too.
